Перевела свой кусочек из выступления Гордона Ньюфелда о воспитании детей "Помогаем детям развить собственную индивидуальность".

Кстати, кто еще не в курсе - появился замечательный англоязычный ресурс для родителей. Много полезных видеовыступлений практикующих психологов, в числе которых Гордон Ньюфелд и его теория привязанности. 

Итак, родители или сверстники?

В нашем обществе распространено мнение, что в определенный момент жизни сверстники должны заменить родителей. Будто это такая стадия развития: до поры до времени родители считаются наиболее важными, а затем наиболее важными становятся сверстники. Такая позиция уводит от главного: родители должны играть самую важную роль в жизни ребенка, чтобы сформировалась привязанность, чтобы была утолена потребность в зависимости.

Что должно со временем заменить родителей? Только не сверстники. Вместо привязанности к родителям, у ребенка должно появиться чувство себя - индивидуальность, осознание собственной личности. Вот что всегда должно быть предусмотрено в генеральном плане. Мы знаем об этом уже более 100 лет, с тех пор как на рубеже 19-20 веков появилась психология развития подростков.

Проблемы появляются, если происходит преждевременное замещение родителей сверстниками, равнение на которых подавляет индивидуальность. Развитие идет в противоположном направлении. Ребенок теряет чувство себя, самосознание, свои собственные мысли, идеи. Он берет все от сверстников, и это наихудший сценарий в нашем деле, и, как мне кажется, свидетельство невероятной незрелости нашего общества.

Поэтому короткий ответ на этот вопрос таков: нет, никогда сверстники не должны замещать родителей. Родителей ребенку может заменить только развитие его собственной индивидуальности. Индивидуальности настолько сильной, которая сможет сохранить себя даже в кругу сверстников и которую будет невозможно подавить.
